Hilary Coole
Inspired by her mothers’ nostalgic recollections of 1950s clothes and designs Hilary’s hand built vessels and functional ware capture these memories from her childhood era in their forms and patterns.
“Using slips, paper resist and sgraffito directly onto the clay surface these decorated slabs are formed into works of colourful, sculptural and contemporary interpretations of this influential era in my life. They embody my sense of place, evoking the fun, emotion and utopian aims of the 1950s”.
