Shelton Pottery

Ken and Valerie make their pottery together in their south Cheshire home. Ken throws the work in white earthenware on the potter’s wheel, usually bowls, vases and plates. The work is biscuit fired and then Valerie paints with underglaze colours before glazing and firing again. Valerie brings her background of fashion and textile design, together with her skill with the brush to produce strong patterns in bold, lush colours. Valerie will be demonstrating her painting technique at Art in Clay.
