At first I’m interested in the material, the possibilities. Earth, becoming solid like rock through the firing. The endless diversity of the clays, their astonishing properties, leading to different forms. Forms that are accessible, usable and recognisable to most people.

Vessels.

The very best of them exceed their usability and lead the view of the observer to the essential contents, that enabled the birth of the work. I trust that my pots are giving access to the viewer, ac- cess to things that are important to me: Beauty, lastingness, livelyness and warmth.

And that they are telling stories about the material, the firing; that they are having marks from ma- king, simple signs of an unbelievable complex working process, signs that are aesthetically attractive and interesting at the same time.
