Clay itself is a wonderful material and each type has its own character and tolerances. It is up to the maker to discover how far it can be pushed. I use many different types of clay, from the very fine bone china and porcelain, to the rough and gritty brick clays. I also find it joyful to work with many different materials. Each has its own character, its own limits, its own tolerance – some materials fight back, some play the game.
