My current raku work is heavily influenced by Eastern and Far Eastern Culture. Raku is an ancient Japanese ceramic firing method which has evolved through time and experience. It utilizes extreme temperature change to cause the distinctive and unique crazing on the surface of each piece. I employ three raku methods; Glazed, ‘Naked’ and Horsehair. My raku kilns are gas fired work is removed at high temperature to reduction. After this process work is cooled, cleaned and wax finished.
