Jack Laverick
‘My name’s Jack and im a 24 year old ceramic designer and maker. I studied at Leek College of Art and also studied Modelling and Mouldmaking with Ed Bentley as well as working with my father, ceramic artist Tony Laverick. Having a life long interest in photography, I also studied that with Dave Butcher the renowned landscape photographer. I try to incorporate my photography into my ceramics where possible. I initially started to use porcelain to make hand made buttons which was the starting point in me learning about glazing and also selling my work to the public. I then went on to develop my work which now consists of slip cast porcelain lighting with smaller items including tea light holders and planters. I use the translucent quality of porcelain for the lighting with industrial themes. I also use my own screen printed decals which I design using my drawings and photography on my porcelain candle holders. I have recently been developing more sculptural and geometric forms and also using body stains with my porcleian.’
