Sheila Madder
I am a mould maker and slip caster, working in coloured porcelain. I use the potters wheel and plaster lathe to design my work, then create a mould from the designs. I build up layers of coloured porcelain and carve back into them. The carved pattern usually represents an abstract handprint on the pot, leaving an imprint of the maker within the piece. The philosophies of Emotionally durable design and the slow movement inspire my work.
