Sheila Madder
I am a mould maker and slip caster, working in coloured porcelain. Using the wheel and plaster lathe to design my work. I then create a mould from the designs which I use to build up layers of coloured porcelain slip and carve back into the individual layers. The carved pattern represents an abstract handprint on the pot, leaving an imprint of the maker within the piece. My work is high fired and vitrified.
The philosophies of Emotionally durable design and the slow movement inspire my work.
