John Masterton

My work is mostly thrown in porcelain, and glazed using reconstructions of old Chinese glazes. I fire to high temperatures in a gas reduction kiln, hoping that the kiln yields interesting and sometimes unpredictable results. I try to exploit the glazes with carving into the surface or cutting the clay to give lines and edges that allow the glazes to change. I like to make useful things, but hope they are good to look at too!
