Helen Rondell

I make sculptural raku fired ceramics. All my work is handbuilt by coiling and pinching, finishing by lightly burnishing and adding a textural pattern to some. I fire them using the naked raku technique, so the final pieces are unglazed but the surface to very tactile. My early inspiration was drawn from travels in the Southwestern United States, by the breathtaking landscapes and rock formations, and also the Pueblo Pottery of New Mexico.
