Paul Taylor

My work is largely centred around the idea of the vessel. I mainly slab build using a variety of moulds to create the initial form, to which I add thin textured slabs and press moulded and extruded details. I usually give each piece several coats of terrasigillata usually leaving the internal surface uncoloured, preferring to leave the natural clay as a contrast.
My aim is to transform very simple materials into pottery that has its own unique configurations, surfaces and textures.
