The 1870’s photographs of Eadweard Muybridge meet the colours of American Abstract Expressionism in functional and sculptural vessels thrown and manipulated to express a powerful sense of movement in stoneware clay. Most are for daily use to lift the spirit and enhance our lives with themes including humour, the power of the life-force and the beauties of the natural world. Recently I have begun to explore the use of multiple glost firings to build up layers of contrasting colour and texture.
